If you love Harry Potter as much as we do, you may have already encountered the Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle Deckbuilding Game that was released in 2016. It’s a great cooperative deckbuilder with so many connections to the books and the movies that you’ll be as happy as a kid who just walked into Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. It’s currently ranked as 272 on BoardGameGeek.
The Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle Monster Box of Monsters Expansion was released in 2017 to add even more playability to this game that is enjoyed by entry level deckbuilders and those who have been playing for longer.
As many/most cooperative games it’s a great game for solo play too. You might find that there are advantages and disadvantages to playing as only a single character for solo mode. I’ve personally enjoyed both playing with a single or as 2 characters. I find that there is less of the Alpha player problems with this as a coop. All in all, it’s one of my favourites to pull out when I have an hour free to play.
If you’re looking for an affordable but great gift for yourself or your favourite Potter fan, take a look at these beautiful playing cards now in stock.

I started my board game journey fairly recently, and now I’m starting Bored Games to share this with others!
I’ve always loved board games, from the days of being the youngest and staring at a cupboard of games and not having anyone to play with.
When I started having some extra money I bought board games, but I bought the usuals. Monopoly, 30 Seconds, Scrabble etc. Then a friend introduced me to a game called Botswana, also known as Wildlife Safari. Suddenly there was so much more strategy than I had imagined! Then a few months later we played Pandemic, I was hooked! And bought it as soon as I could. A visit to Big Box Cafe introduced me to Camel Up and I bought that there and then.
Sharing with the family
That opened the door to the rest of my family. Everyone who played with me, loved it. It was great. And so I started buying more games. Sushi Go Party, Spot It, a friend gave Splendor to me as a Christmas gift. Azul was released and I HAD to get a copy as soon as possible.
I found games that would let the whole family play. At times we had ages ranging from 5 – 70. We were spending time together, laughing together. It was great. I wanted to share this lovely thing, so I started a small board game group in Wellington where I live. I made new friends, we had even more fun.
What next? Bored Games!
The next logical step for me was to start this little online shop and because I’m silly, Bored Games was the obvious choice as a name. I’m a web developer by day, but I love the idea of bringing more games to people. To inspire families to spend more time together.
Send me a message if you want more info, I’m happy to help out! I’ll be improving the website as I go along with the idea of assisting people to find the right games for their family. There truly is something for everyone.
